Week 5: Antiwar voices
I believe a lot of anti war propaganda is not shown on mainstream media, because it does not benefit the United States. If we ever went to war, the United States would need supports of their people. Having a large movement of people stating how bad the war is is not a good thing. The United States would need people to support them and the war effort. When it is time for people to be recruited it would be hard because there will be so many people in mass media saying that going to war is bad.
An article written by npr discusses how the antiwar movement went down after the Vietnam war. People saw how badly troops were being treated after the Vietnam war and did not want to do anything that could potentially harm or disrespect the troops. Then the antiwar movement was replaced by the war on terrorism after 9/11.
Also, most Americans today especially at my age do not know war, or have ever really felt the impacts of war. So to be aware of or have knowledge of how bad war is in America is lost on us. So we do not really feel a need for an antiwar movement.
